Competitive Health Insurance Reform Act

 Great news for patients and providers!

H.R. 1418, bipartisan legislation repeals the McCarran-Ferguson Act, passed in 1945, which allowed most health insurance companies to operate outside of federal antitrust laws established by the Sherman Act. Health insurers will now be subject to the same laws that other businesses are required to comply with and that prohibit unfair practices such as price fixing, price gouging, collusion and market allocations that hurt consumers.

New rules on narcotic painkillers and the Veteran's Administration

Concerning the highly addictive painkillers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has termed this “the worst drug addiction epidemic in the country’s history, killing more people than heroin and crack cocaine.” Pain experts at the Veteran's Administration now say that in hindsight they have been overmedicating veterans.

U.S. Senate Passes Resolution Honoring ACA’s 50th Anniversary

Arlington, Va.—The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) today announced that the United States Senate passed a resolution, S.Res.72, observing ACA’s contributions to the country’s health care system and recognizing the 50th anniversary of the founding of the association.
