A new study published in the July issue of the PAIN Journal showed that twelve weeks of spinal manipulative therapy (adjustments) combined with exercise therapy is more effective than exercise therapy alone over a one-year period for adolescents with chronic low back pain.
Does this surpise anyone?

Do I Have To Keep Going To The Chiropractor?
One of the complaints you will often hear about chiropractors sounds like this, “Once you go, you always have to go.” The ironic thing is that it’s more common to hear that complaint from someone who has never actually gone to a chiropractor instead of someone who has.
If you talk to someone who goes to or has gone to a chiropractor, they will tell you the statement “Once you go, you always have to go” is simply untrue.
Have you ever heard this urban legend?

Productive on six hours of sleep? You’re deluding yourself, expert says
I recently watched a two hour interview of Dr. Matthew Walker, a neuroscientist and sleep researcher, and was so impressed by the information that I read his book. I had known there were detrimental effects of sleep, but I like many was unaware of how profoundly these could effect our physical, mental, and emotional well being. I can now see that decreaed quantity and quality of sleep is a large public health issue.
Has anyone suffered detrimental effects from poor sleep?

The Illness Is Bad Enough. The Hospital May Be Even Worse
The elderly are particularly vulnerable to “post-hospital syndrome,” in which areas of their health deteriorate after the inactivity and stress of hospital stays. One of the benefits of chiropractic care, as shown in several studies, is its ability to keep some patients form hospital stays, thus reducing the amount of post-hospital syndrome.
Has anyone experienced any adverse effects from a hospital stay?

Do Epidural Steroid Injections Help Lower Back Pain?
This is a recent review study from the Annals of Internal Medicine of 30 previous epidural steroid injection studies. It showed only mild temporay benefit overall and no benefit for spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spine).“ESIs are high cost, low value health care,” said Terri Lewis, Ph.D, who is an expert of rehabilitation medicine.
Do you think it would be rational to use more conservative treatments for these patients such as chiropractic and/or physical therapy?

Alternative treatments for chronic pain without opioids
Missouri Governor Mike Parson recently signed a bill allowing chiropractic care to be covered under Medicaid. Research shows that the Medicaid population is prescribed opioids at a disproportionately high rate compared to the general population and those areas where patients have access to chiropractic have decreased opioid prescription rates.
Do you think it would be beneficial for Illiinois to again cover chiropractic care under Medicaid?Alternative treatments for chronic pain without opioids

Yes, chiropractors and physical therapists treat pregnant woman...for sciatica and many other lumbar and spine disorders. Chiropractic care is especially valuable in this setting as the desire to limit the mother and child from x-ray radiation exposure, drugs, injections, and other dangerous treatment options is shared by all providers.
Many women who are referred to me by obstreticians are surprised that chiropractors treat pregnant woman.
Have you heard of this?
