I have always thought it was crazy that medical interns and residents are made to work hours that we would never tolerate for other professions or industries that service the public. Now I see that the private group that oversees physician training in the United States has proposed rolling back rules so that young doctors just out of medical school can work shifts as long as 28 hours.
Did you know that Medicare pays hospitals up to $130,000 or more and pay the average medical resident a salary of just $60,000, with no overtime! They are very low cost labor.
We have seen 4 large studies in the last 15 years showing that hundreds of thousands of patients die every year from hospital mistakes. Why would we want sleep deprived doctors treating patients?
As I have written before, another indirect benefit of chiropractic care is keeping some patients from be admitted into these dangerous hospitals.
Young doctors could work 28 hours straight under new plan, despite possible dangers

VA Chiropractic Residency First in Nation to Receive Accredidation
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) chiropractic residency programs have reached a historic first by receiving accreditation from the Council of Chiropractic Education. The programs provide postgraduate clinical training in integrated chiropractic practice, focused on team-based care and inter-professional education.
This will give veterans more options as the VA reduces treatment with opioid (narcotic) drugs
Do you think this is a positive change for our veterans.?

Researchers: Medical errors now third leading cause of death in United States
We could do so much better. I have written on the three previous large studies on preventable medical errors that have been published since 1998. Unfortunately except for infections, the preventable errors have remained unchanged or worsened over this time period! A new study from the British Medical Journal headed by Martin Makary, a professor of surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine estimates the number at 251,000 per year or 700 hundred per day.
We would not tolerate this in any other industry. Why do you think we tolerate this from the medical industry?

Doctor of Chiropractic confirmed by the Illinois Senate to serve on the Illinois Medical Licensing Board.
Some people and even chiropractic patients think that chiropractors are just "back cracking" technicians. Truth is we are doctors who are licensed as physicians under the Illinois Medical Practice Act (same act that regulates MD's and DO's) to diagnose and treat human ailments (without the use of drugs or surgery).
Congratulations to Dr. Douglas Matzner who as a doctor of chiropractic was just confirmed by the Illinois Senate to serve on the Illinois Medical Licensing Board.
Dr. Matzner will join the likes of Dr. Richard Fay (Medical Disciplinary Board), Dr. Monica Schnack (State Board of Health), and others in serving the profession proudly in Illinois.Doctor of Chiropractic confirmed by the Illinois Senate to serve on the Illinois Medical Licensing Board.

Guinness World Record Running Across US
A local man from Minooka who went to high school with my niece is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for running across the US. He has run 1500 miles with many 50 mile days and recently had some chiropractic treatment.
"I haven't felt this good since Day 1." - Actual quote from Adam after his dry needling session with David at Advanced Chirosport Inc in Dallas. We can't say thank you enough to David Findura for treating Adam, giving him new hope that pain free moments and days are still possible 1,500 miles into this journey.

Undoctored
When people hear the word – Chiropractor – it evokes a wide range of responses. And there is a surprising reason for these mixed emotions!
The American Medical Association (and other high-profile medical organizations) were found guilty in United States Federal Court of a conspiracy to contain and eliminate the chiropractic profession. While millions would attest to the 'miracles of chiropractic', a malevolent agenda sought to eliminate it.
To experienced "Undoctored" is to experience a real life Rocky story where the underdog wins. You will hear from real patients, world-class profession athletes and many experts about the best-kept healthcare secret that could change and maybe even save, your life.
This story reminds me of the novel and movie The Rainmaker...except this story is real!
The documentary can be viewed for free for the next 4 days thru February 26th.
